Teaching and Learning Lab for Democracy
The Democracy Teaching and Learning Laboratory (LLL) is a specially equipped teaching and research space that enables democracy education to be experienced, explored and researched both as a cross-curricular theme across all subjects and as a subject-specific topic and a focus for school development.
The laboratory combines perspectives from subject-specific pedagogy and educational science within a single framework. The aim is to achieve a triadic integration of
- (higher education) teaching,
- research based on a dialogue between theory and practice, and
- transfer/public engagement.
In this way, we visibly embed democracy education within teacher training and position it at the heart of Karlsruhe’s educational landscape. The spatial design (flexible furniture layout, video technology) specifically supports collaborative, dialogical and participatory teaching and learning formats.
You’ll soon find details of what we offer and a glimpse into the laboratory here.
