The dieS Summer School 2026
This year’s dieS Summer School 2026 took place from 18 to 20 June at the University of Education in Karlsruhe. It was dedicated to the theme of ‘Networked Writing Didactics’, thereby focusing on the diverse intersections between writing research, educational science, psychology and digital technologies. The focus was on interdisciplinary perspectives on writing processes, as well as the methodological challenges arising from the increasing complexity of data, AI-supported writing environments and collaborative practices.
The summer school offered a varied programme of lectures, methodology workshops, discussion forums and consultation sessions, in which quantitative and digital approaches to writing research were presented and discussed. Topics such as AI-assisted writing processes, multimodal storytelling and collaborative writing in subject-specific teaching provided up-to-date insights into the breadth and dynamics of empirical writing didactics.

The Qurʾān – Bridging Tradition and Modernity in the Quest for Understanding
This international symposium invited academics, researchers and students to engage in an in-depth academic examination of the changing landscape of Qur’anic exegesis. Jointly organised by the Karlsruhe University of Education and the University of Vienna, the event provided a dynamic space to explore how classical approaches to the Qur’an can be reimagined in the face of the intellectual, social and ethical challenges of the modern world. The symposium brought together diverse perspectives, methods and cultural contexts in a joint search for a new understanding.
The event took place on 9 and 10 December in Vienna at the Faculty of Catholic Theology, Dean’s Meeting Room, Universitätsring 1 (Staircase 8, 2nd floor), 1010 Vienna. Online participation was available.
AQUA-d Conference 2025: Advancing Digital Task Efficacy: International Perspectives on Technology-Enhanced Education
The integration of digital technologies into education offers new opportunities to improve the quality of teaching, learning and assessment. However, the effective design and use of digital tasks requires careful consideration of pedagogical principles, subject-specific teaching approaches, teachers’ skills and appropriate technological solutions.
This challenge is being addressed by the interdisciplinary research and early-career research group “AQUA-d” at our university, which is conducting empirical research in this field. The international conference provided a platform to discuss key aspects of the quality of digital tasks and their role in technology-supported education.
The event took place on 8 and 9 October 2025.
